The Footsteps Stafford Nursery and Preschool embarked on a compassionate journey throughout the month of October, dedicated to raising funds for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Last week, they proudly presented a cheque exceeding £3600 to the hospital, a testament to their unwavering commitment to children’s health and well-being.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital holds a special place in the hearts of the Footsteps team, especially for Deputy Manager Kay and her family. They experienced the hospital’s exceptional care first hand when Kay went into premature labour at just 26 weeks. Their precious daughter, Tillie, was born weighing less than 2 pounds and faced a challenging journey. Although Tillie spent some time at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, she eventually transcended this world, becoming a radiant star in the sky a few weeks later.
In honour of Tillie’s memory and as a gesture of gratitude to the hospital that provided vital support during their difficult time, at Footsteps Stafford Nursery and Preschool set out to make a substantial contribution. Their month-long fundraising efforts were diverse and engaging, showcasing the community’s unity and determination. Activities included whimsical scarecrow competitions, challenging cycle races, staff-sponsored sleep-overs, a spirited bring-and-buy sale, and an enchanting bug ball where children participated in games and savoured a delightful, spooky meal.
The success of this heartfelt initiative would not have been possible without the dedication and tireless efforts of the staff at Footsteps Stafford, who organised and spearheaded these fundraising activities. Equally deserving of praise are the children and parents who wholeheartedly contributed to this remarkable cause, exemplifying the spirit of compassion and giving that defines the Footsteps community.
We are deeply moved by the outpouring of support and generosity from our staff, children, and parents. Tillie’s memory will forever shine brightly, and we are proud to have made a meaningful contribution to Birmingham Children’s Hospital in her honour. Our hope is that this donation will help other children and families facing challenging times.
